Method
Coat and prepare the cereal
- Pour the cinnamon cereal squares into a large bowl.
- Place the chopped dried apple chips, powdered sugar, and cinnamon into a large resealable plastic bag.
Melt the white chocolate glaze
- Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy (microwave temperature set by your microwave; stop when fully melted).
Combine and coat
- Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal and gently stir until evenly coated.
- Transfer the coated cereal to the resealable bag with the apple chips and cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Seal the bag and shake gently until everything is evenly coated with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Cool and set
- Spread the puppy chow on wax paper to cool and set before serving, about 5 minutes.
Notes
For the smoothest coating, melt the white chocolate in short microwave bursts and stir between each interval so it doesn’t scorch. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days; for longer storage, refrigerate up to 5 days (let sit briefly to regain crunch). Freezing isn’t recommended because the cereal texture can soften. For a dairy-free swap, use dairy-free white chocolate chips and follow the same melting method.
